E-learning with PowerPoint – Limiting factors
E-learning with PowerPoint is not new but has only been practiced by a handful of people due to issues like sending big PowerPoint files as an attachment in email or buying costly software for converting PowerPoint presentations in easy-to-share Flash format.
authorSTREAM – Opening up new possibilities for e-learning
authorSTREAM has opened up a lot of possibilities for asynchronous e-learning content creation and sharing. PPT files can be shared worldwide using authorSTREAM without the downsides of big attachments or software requirements at both the teacher or students’ end.
Now you can not only send links to your students to view your presentations online instead of attaching PowerPoint files but can also:
- Embed your PowerPoint files on your website or blog
- Download your presentation as video
- Transfer PPTs to iPods
Embedding PowerPoint Presentations in Moodle
A number of educators use Moodle as an LMS/CMS (Learning Management System or Course Management System). PowerPoint files uploaded on authorSTREAM can be embedded in Moodle quite easily, which has 476772 registered users and 47647 registered sites.
Shawn Brandt, an authorSTREAM user has done a wonderful job with this nice presentation explaining how to embed authorSTREAM Presentations on Moodle. Thank you Shawn!

So the next time you want to share your lessons in PowerPoint, just upload to authorSTREAM and embed on your Moodle website or simply share the presentation-link with your students.
Great post. I have used this technique myself and it works!
