Presentation Embed Code Compatibility Issues Solved

Some authorSTREAM users were having issues with presentation embed code on spaces.live.com, bebo and LiveJournal. We've updated the embed code to make it compatible with these sites. Now authorSTREAM embed code will work fine on all these sites.

Wordpress

We've also released special embed code for WordPress. Currently, our embeds don’t work with wordpress.com blogs (example.wordpress.com) but they work fine with WordPress hosted blogs (Powered by the Wordpress blogging software). You need to install the authorSTREAM WordPress plugin in your plugin directory in order to use WordPress embed in your hosted blogs. You can download the plug-in from http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/authorstream/

Full screen doesn't work on spaces.live.com

Send PowerPoint to YouTube

Share PowerPoint on YouTube

Today we took another big step for sharing your presentation online with your friends and your channel viewers! We would like to announce a new feature, with which you can directly upload your presentations to YouTube!

Please notice that just the presentations with rehearsed timing can be uploaded on YouTube. Background music, sound or animations are not a must, but they are highly recommended as videos look best with sound.

How to share your presentation on YouTube?

It’s just a few clicks away from YouTube. After the conversion is ready, you will see a new icon in the ‘My Uploaded Presentations’ page. Click on "Send to YouTube":
















As you click on it, a small window will appear for logging in to your YouTube account. authorSTREAM does not have access to your YouTube account, nor does YouTube receive any personal information about you from authorSTREAM.
















After logging into your account, you will get another window with instructions and you are one more click away! Just click "Send Now".
















Just wait a few seconds to see your presentation on your YouTube account!

How does it help authors?

• Wider reach: YouTube is the biggest video sharing site, where niche communities and interest groups are active. You can send your presentation to YouTube, join these groups and share your presentations within these groups. Your presentations now have a wider reach.
  
• True Conversion: Presentations are all about a special message on a selected topic. authorSTREAM provides a video output from your presentations retaining narrations, effects etc, which provides the same look and feel online as you would see it on your desktop. So authors have an easy way of sharing their presentations on YouTube, without loosing any effects, sounds etc.

This is a very nice and informative presentation about Data Modeling by Dr. Rodney. He uses narration together with the power of visual sensation to educate teachers how to use databases in education. And as you know it’s also podcasting – as on authorSTREAM you can download your rehearsed presentations on iPod and iPhone, so you can watch and listen to it on the move. Doina’s Amazing PPT Presentations

It’s just a few days back when this presentation was uploaded, but right away I fell in love with this. The music, the animations, the pictures and as she turns them from black&white to color, it’s really amazing. It’s also relaxing to watch such - shall I say music videos? This really shows what power PPT users can make out of a few great pictures – and I think with a bit of Photoshop.

These are real effects!! At the beginning I thought that it’s just animations embedded in powerpoint:), but not! You can also download the presentations, and you can make sure about it yourself! It’s great to see how to make similar effects maybe in your next presentation. Amaze your friends, family, colleagues and also authorSTREAM members with your “animations”!!

PowerPoint Games and PPT Quizzes Now on authorSTREAM

We made some changes in the player to make it more interactive and more fun. With this new feature you can use hyperlinks within the presentation as navigation. It can be used, for example, to make a quiz or test as shown below, or other games. Here is a sample quiz:

Presentation Downloads

Also, we get many questions concerning the downloading of presentations. We have enhanced the message on the presentation pages to make it less confusing. Before, if the user uploaded a presentation as non-downloadable there was no information shown about downloading. Now you can see a presentation icon in grey which gives this hint on-mouse over: “The user has not allowed download for this file. You can contact the owner of this presentation through the comments section”.

Video/iPod format enhancements

We enhanced the video/iPod function as it now can play transition sounds in the video/iPod format. Before, transition sounds sometimes did not work well. Please note that the old presentations won’t change as they are already compiled with the “old version”. You can request for recompilation on support at authorstream.com.
