PPT to Mp4 or M4V Podcasts for iPods

PowerPoint to Mp4 or M4v

If you add rehearsed timings or narration to your presentation, it also gets converted to the iPod friendly MP4 or M4v video podcast formats when you upload it to authorSTREAM.

The need for PowerPoint to Mp4 podcasts

The authorSTREAM team understood the need and aimed to provide a solution. As most students use iPods for music and video, why not offer a feature on authorSTREAM that allows converting PowerPoint presentations into Mp4 or M4V podcasts so that they could have their PPTs also on their iPods?

Podcasts in Education

The PowerPoint to video feature gave a solution to the PPT quick access and portability problem. Anyone who uses an iPod that supports video can watch podcasts created from PowerPoint:

E-learning Podcasts from PPT

In the past, many people, mainly students, had the need of reviewing a PowerPoint presentation related to their subject of study and did not have access to a computer at that specific time. Additionally, when they ran into some colleague wanting to discuss something related to their presentations, it was not possible to quickly access the presentation. Students can therefore get immense benefit in academics, since they almost all have iPods and they can utilize any free time to listen to and learn from podcasts on their subjects.

Education is simple now; life is even simpler. Simply authorSTREAM.

Now Upload Presentations Without Registration

Guest Presentation Upload

authorSTREAM has launched today a new feature which allows you to upload presentations without having to register. With "Guest Upload", you can upload PowerPoint presentations as a guest but have access only to a limited set of features, which you can extend later if you get registered and signed into your account. But the real advantage is that you can instantly upload a presentation without signing up and get the URL or embed code to share it in your blog.

In order to get your presentation transfered into your account, you would need to register yourself on authorSTREAM using the same computer/browser, from which you uploaded the presentation as a guest. Also, if you erased the cookies in your browser or you are using a different brower/computer, then your presentations will not be automatically credited into your account. But you need not worry, if your cookies have been erased or you are registering from a different computer; you can always use the "guest pass code". What is this pass code? Read on..

The Guest Pass Code

After each presentation you upload, you will receive a "guest pass code", which will be very useful when you come back to the authorSTREAM webpage later to register and add the uploaded presentation to your existing account. In such case, you would have to enter the guest pass code by clicking on the "Claim your guest presentations" link, provided on the "My Uploaded Presentations" page .

What are the limitations of a "Guest User" account?

Firstly, all the presentations you upload will be available in public, none of them in private; so guest users cannot mark a presentation as "Private". Some other services not available to guest users:

  • Download other users’ presentations
  • Present Live
  • My Presentations Widget
  • See/upload Private Presentations
  • Import contacts
  • Get e-mail notifications
So if you are tied up for time and need to upload your presentations quickly, simply use the guest upload feature and retain the unique pass code. You can always come back and register to claim your presentations.

PPT Motion Path Effects Now Supported

Motion Path Effects

In our constant pursuit to enrich presentation experience on authorSTREAM, we just released Motion Paths, which helps to expand your animation with motion path effects. Use types of paths from preset lines, curves, and shapes to custom paths that let you doodle freely. Here is a presentation, which shows an example in the first slide and various motion path ideas in subsequent slides:

Custom Motion Paths

A motion path is a hidden track you lay on your slide for objects like a picture, line of text, or shape to run along. For example, you can move text from one place on your slide to another; create a hand-drawn entrance or exit for any object; or lay a path that an arrow could follow at crucial points in your narrative, to show a process.

Known Issues for Motion Paths on authorSTREAM

1.Starting point for the second motion path animation is not proper if two motion path animations are used on the same object.

2. Motion path animations do not work properly if the starting point of animation & Objects position is not same.

3. Custom motion path speed not proper (Very slow works as very fast in some presentations).

4. Sometimes Motion path plays with a jerking motion.

5. Order of the Motion path/animations not proper in some cases.
