Let’s pay tribute to our brave soldiers on Memorial Day

We are all proud citizens of our countries, but can’t be prouder than the soldiers who without a second thought lay their lives. Corporal Jason Bogar of Seattle, Washington was one such soldier who fought for his country till the last breath. CBSNEWS did a cover story on him on October 6, 2009 remembering him. He died on July 13, 2008 during his second tour in Afghanistan, the first being in Iraq as part of the Washington National Guard.Corporal Jason Bogar was a loving son and a doting brother. In his letters to the family, Cpl. Jason Bogar talked about being an Assistant Gunner in a “little Forward Operating Base called Bella” in Afghanistan. He further remarked on the massive size of the mountains and how difficult it was to be on guard there. He also wrote about the growing danger at Bella day by day. Jason, then, revealed his “days are numbered” and that the “death is all around” him. But, he proudly expressed his satisfaction too of choosing to do what he always wanted to do- fighting for the country. Further Jason told the family “you are the reason I am here, and to give my life for that is nothing to me.”
Words are less to commemorate the sacrifice made by soldiers like Corporal Jason Bogar and their families.
This Memorial Day let’s pay a tribute:
