authorSTREAM now provides HTTPS support for embedding presentations securely over the web.
Bloggers and website owners, who have HTTPS enabled websites, can now securely embed their presentations with our HTTPS embed.
HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure), the secure counterpart to HTTP, adds a layer of encryption around the information travelling between your computer and web server. Most web browsers often block content or generate a “mixed content” warning when users access web pages via HTTPS that contain embedded content loaded via HTTP. By using HTTPS embeds, bloggers and website owners can rest assured that the end users will no longer face any such issue.
We received a lot of requests from universities, institutes, webmasters and bloggers who use HTTPS enabled websites and secure Learning Management System (LMS) or Content Management System (CMS) to provide secure embeds. We are happy to roll out this functionality for our users. This makes authorSTREAM embeds “protocol relative” which means we now support the protocol of your website- whether its HTTP or HTTPS.
If you would like to now embed presentations using HTTPS embed code, follow these simple steps:
- Log in to your authorSTREAM account
- In My Stuff menu, click My Presentations
- Choose the presentation you want to embed
- Click the Embed tab and choose the embed code you would like to use: Flash, iPad, or Dynamic.
- Select the Use HTTPS checkbox next to the embed code (Only premium users see this option here).
- Copy the embed code and paste it on your blog or website.
Besides your ‘My Stuff’ page as shown in the image above, the HTTPS option can be found at all those pages where embed functionality is given. For instance, you can find it on Customize Embed page, presentation page, edit presentation page, etc.
